Testimonials
For five years, during the period 1995 to 2004, I was plagued by symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, bloody diarrhea, joint pain, fever, mouth canker sores and even red nodules on the skin, called erythema nodosum. Of course, this adversely affected my successful law practice in New York, not to mention every other aspect of my life! Through blood tests, x-rays of the small bowel and a colonoscopy, I was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in August 2004. If left untreated, I might have developed more serious maladies such as anal fissures, peri-anal abscesses, bowel obstructions, kidney stones and even cancer.
My doctor prescribed Colazal, Asacol, and Ciprofloxacin and recommended a weekly I.V. drug infusion of infliximab (trade name Remicade). Because there is no known cure for Crohn’s (or any other Inflammatory Bowel Diseases), doctors try to suppress symptoms with steroids, immune suppressants, etc. The side effects of these substances can be severe, and for me they were often as painful as the symptoms of Crohn’s. Later, I found some relief from painful spasms with Dicyclomine, but I was still in chronic pain and eventually had to close my law office of 15 years.
In my frustration with allopathic (or Western) medicine, I searched for alternatives and decided on acupuncture. Yet I clung to Dicyclomine, merely hoping that acupuncture would help somewhat. Being terrified of needles, I was reluctant to make my first appointment with Yue Ling (Eileen). Immediately sensing my trepidation, she showed me the needles, explained the process, and helped me feel at ease by answering all my questions. Her methods proved to be thorough and gentle.
The first treatment was so painless that I assumed it couldn’t be effective. Boy was I wrong! That day, my bowel movements were normal and immediate effects were felt throughout my body. After 4 weeks of treatment (3 times per week) I had gained considerable energy and began to eat foods that I’d abstained from for months! Within 3 months of continued acupuncture, I was able to decrease my use of Dicyclomine. Soon, I was able to cease taking the drugs entirely and used only acupuncture. To the amazement of my family and friends, I was finally drug and, more importantly, symptom free!
In May 2006 my MD ran the same set of tests that had been conducted at my initial diagnosis. He informed me that evidence of the disease had decreased in scope (on a scale of 1 to 10) from a 9 all the way down to 1! Remarking with a shocked, “Continue to do whatever it is you are doing - it seems to be working”, the doctor and I both realized what Yue Ling’s treatments have done to restore my health, livelihood and overall quality of life.
It is with the utmost confidence in her professional skills and kindly nature that I recommend Yue Ling’s treatments to anyone who may be suffering as I was. With her effective and encouraging help you too can find relief from pain and regain good health.

In the spring of 1997 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and sent home with a prescription for steroids and an appointment for three weeks later. Before those weeks were up my mother was driving me to the ER while I shivered from fever and couldn’t throw up anymore because I was so dehydrated.
I was promptly hospitalized for nearly a month, fed only through a tube in my neck, and given every medication possible. I had nearly died from blood loss, malnutrition and dehydration. Although I haven’t been that sick again, I have since been through many ups and downs.
Over the years I have used a combination of Western medicine – which saved my life initially – and so-called alternative medicine. While I believe they both have their strengths, I have become increasingly wary of most allopathic medications for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). My recent experience of trying an immune suppressant called 6MP really scared me. It caused my liver metabolites to reach four times the toxic level!
This was a harsh reminder of what I already knew: that I must take more responsibility for my health, rather than passively hoping the doctors will ‘fix it’. They can’t; they don’t have a magic bullet for IBD. I, on the other hand, know my body better than anyone and I have a wide range of ‘tools’ to work with. One of the most powerful I’ve found so far is acupuncture.
In the past, acupuncture has eased my pain when I’ve had aching joints or cramping in my tummy. Since I started working with Yue Ling, however, I have also had almost immediate relief from scarier symptoms like mucous and blood. That alone gave me confidence in her abilities, but her thorough approach to my overall wellbeing keeps me coming back.
While Yue Ling is very focused and skillful in her work, she also has a gift for putting one at ease with her genuine kindness and sense of humor. She is extremely conscientious about her patients’ needs, and accommodating with their schedules. These qualities give me great comfort when I am feeling anxious or overwhelmed because I know she will fit me in and get things back on track.
Because acupuncture has proven to be totally safe, even when I was very ill and sensitive, and because Yue Ling’s treatments are so healing and efficient, I enthusiastically recommend her to anyone in need of help.
Sincerely,
